Unable to Find Your Room Number After Scanning the QR Code?

If you have scanned the SMTV Cast QR Code and your room number does not appear in the list of available devices, please check the following:

1. Confirm You Are Connected to the Hotel Wi-Fi

Your device must be connected to the property's guest Wi-Fi network before casting will work.


2. Confirm Registration Was Successful

After scanning the QR Code, ensure you received the Success confirmation page. This confirms your device has been registered and is ready to cast to your room TV.

If you did not see the Success page, please scan the QR Code again and complete the registration process.


3. Restart the App

Close the app you are attempting to cast from and reopen it, then try casting again.


4. Confirm the App Supports Casting

Not all applications support Chromecast casting.

Examples:

  • Netflix on certain subscription plans may not support Chromecast casting.

  • Try another casting-enabled app such as Nine Now, YouTube, SBS On Demand, or ABC iview to confirm casting is working.


5. Check Device Network Permissions

If your phone or tablet has not previously been used for Chromecast casting, security or privacy settings may prevent it from discovering devices on the network.

Please check that:

  • The app has permission to access the Local Network.

  • Wi-Fi is enabled and connected to the hotel Wi-Fi.

  • Device discovery permissions are enabled.

  • Any privacy or security settings that restrict network visibility are disabled for the casting app.


6. Review Your Device Manufacturer's Support Information

Different devices and operating systems may require specific settings to be enabled before casting can work.

If your room number still does not appear:

  • Visit your device manufacturer's online support page.

  • Search for "Chromecast not finding devices" or "Enable local network access for casting".

  • Follow the instructions for your specific device model and operating system.
